Valentine’s Date Night Powered by Subaru

Unionville Valentine's Day

Love, Winter and the Subaru Impreza: Valentine’s Day in Unionville

They say love is what makes a Subaru a Subaru, and I couldn't agree more. I am a huge fan of love - seeing it, sharing it, and capturing it. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I wanted to put together a date-night inspired photoshoot to celebrate the vibe.

I managed to convince a good friend and her boyfriend to let me "third-wheel" on their date. They are celebrating their very first Valentine’s Day together, so the energy was perfect. We hopped into the 2016 Subaru Impreza and set our sights on Unionville.

Exploring Historic Unionville Despite being a York Region native, I admit I had never actually visited Main Street Unionville before. One quick Google search of "Unionville winter" was all the convincing I needed; if you haven't looked it up, I dare you to try it without wanting to visit immediately! It seemed like the ideal spot for a relaxed, romantic road trip from Richmond Hill.

Snow, Balloons, and Resilience We parked right beside the large gazebo, and in true Canadian fashion, the weather decided to test us. The moment we stepped out to start shooting, it began pouring wet snow. But we didn't let the slush ruin the mood - we just rolled with it! The red and white balloons we brought along actually looked fantastic against the grey and white backdrop, adding a festive pop of colour to the photos.

Sweet Treats & TV Trivia Valentine’s Day isn't complete without sugar, so after playing in the snow, we headed to the Old Fire Hall Confectionary. I cannot recommend this spot enough. It is straight out of a dream, featuring a candy bar, gourmet truffles, fudge, and chocolate-covered cookies on a stick.

Here is a fun piece of trivia for you: If the street looks familiar, it might be because the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls was filmed right here on Main Street!

Valentine's Day

Why the Impreza Was the Perfect Date Car When the cold became too much, the Impreza was our sanctuary. The defrosting capabilities were incredible, and since we were in the Touring model, we took full advantage of the heated seats (a genuine luxury in this weather).

As the snow piled up and the roads turned into slippery slush, the Subaru Symmetrical AWD did exactly what it’s famous for - it kept us safe and eliminated any driving worries. It’s also great to drive a car that aligns with your values; the Impreza features the PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) program, so we felt good about our environmental footprint. Finally, the compact size of the car made navigating the tighter village roads a breeze.

Whether you are going on a road trip or just staying in, we hope your weekend is full of joy.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
