2026 Subaru Trailseeker Introduces Electric Capability with Classic Subaru Confidence

Subaru Canada has announced details and specifications for the all-new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, marking an important addition to the brand’s growing electrified lineup. First unveiled at the Montreal International Auto Show, this new electric SUV combines everyday usability with the rugged capability Subaru drivers expect, with availability set for spring 2026.

Engineered for Everyday Driving and Weekend Adventure

True to its name, the Trailseeker is built with versatility in mind. Featuring 210 mm of ground clearance and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, it is designed to confidently handle both urban roads and off-the-beaten-path conditions.

At its core is a dual-motor electric powertrain, with one motor powering each axle to deliver approximately 375 horsepower. This setup provides responsive acceleration while preserving Subaru’s balanced all-wheel-drive performance. The Trailseeker is also capable of towing up to 1,500 kg, making it well-suited for trailers, outdoor gear, and recreational use.

To support varying terrain, Subaru equips the Trailseeker with its dual-function X-MODE system, offering Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes. Additional features like Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control help maintain traction and stability across challenging surfaces.

Range, Battery, and Charging Convenience

The Trailseeker is powered by a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering an estimated driving range of up to 444 kilometres under ideal conditions. To improve charging performance year-round, the vehicle includes a battery preconditioning system that helps optimize charging speeds in both cold and warm climates.

A NACS-compatible charging port is standard, expanding access to public charging infrastructure and making it easier to charge on longer trips.

Subaru has also refined the vehicle’s suspension and all-wheel-drive tuning for improved ride quality and control. Sensors at both ends of the vehicle monitor driving inputs and conditions, allowing the system to dynamically adjust power delivery for better grip during acceleration, braking, and cornering.

Expanded Space and Practical Interior Design

Positioned as a larger alternative to the Solterra, the Trailseeker offers increased dimensions, measuring over 150 mm longer and nearly 25 mm taller. This added size translates into greater cargo capacity and more space for rear passengers.

Standard raised roof rails enhance utility, making it easy to carry additional gear such as bikes or roof-mounted cargo. Inside, the flat floor design and generous legroom create a spacious, open feel throughout the cabin.

The interior is anchored by Subaru’s largest touchscreen to date, a 14-inch display that serves as the hub for infotainment and connectivity. Clean lines, metallic accents, and a wide centre console add both style and functional storage for everyday use.

Updated Exterior Styling and Lighting

The 2026 Trailseeker introduces a refreshed design language for Subaru’s electric vehicles. It features a new lighting signature that includes an illuminated six-star logo, redesigned headlamps, and updated front and rear styling elements.

New 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs contribute to its modern stance, while the rear showcases bold three-dimensional SUBARU lettering and a distinctive lighting look for added visibility and presence at night.

Connected Technology and Advanced Safety

Inside the cabin, the Trailseeker comes equipped with Subaru’s latest multimedia system, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Two wireless 15W charging pads are available for front occupants, while rear passengers benefit from USB-C fast-charging ports.

Every model includes Subaru’s comprehensive EyeSight driver-assistance suite. Key features include:

  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Lane Departure Alert
  • Panoramic View Monitor
  • Emergency Stop Assist
  • Traffic Jam Assist
  • Lane Change Assist
  • Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control

Together, these technologies are designed to enhance driver awareness and provide added confidence on the road.

Final Thoughts

With the 2026 Trailseeker, Subaru is taking a meaningful step into the electric future while staying true to its core strengths. Combining strong performance, practical range, advanced safety, and everyday versatility, it stands out as a well-rounded electric SUV for drivers who want capability without compromise.
